Symphony in the Flint Hills

Symphony in the Flint Hills is located at 331 Broadway St, Cottonwood Falls, KS.  Symphony in the Flint Hills is a great place for tourist and has great music.  The signature event is an annual gathering on the prairie celebrating music, art, and ecology of the Flint Hills.  The 2023 event will take place on Wade pasture near Eskridge in Wabaunsee County, Kansas on June 10th.  Part of the experience is exploring a new pasture each year.  There are activities throughout the day like local owners of homes on the pasture, giving talks about the prairies. Monument Rock

Monument Rock is located 25 miles south of Oakley, KS in western Kansas.  They are located on private range land, but thanks to the owners, are open to the public during daylight.  80 Million years ago, the formations were part of the seabed of the Western Interior Seaway that covered much of North America.  The rocks are over 50 feet tall and have layers of fossils in them.  They are made of limestone, and is very soft which means the rocks slowly erode away.  Different types of wildlife make Monument Rock their home.  Small holes in the rocks provide nests for hawks and sparrows. Monument Rocks, sometimes referred to as the Chalk Pyramids, is officially recognized by the National Park Service as a National Natural Landmark.
